Join ACLU of Massachusetts’ legal counsel and advocate Laura Rotolo and Cape Cod attorney Gabriella Bonfim Moraes at the Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center on Monday, May 22 at 7 PM at 130 Center Street in Vineyard Haven to discuss the Trump administration’s Executive Orders of Immigration, the Muslim Ban and what we can do in Massachusetts to stop these unconstitutional practices. State Rep. Dylan Fernandes will also participate in the program. This event, co-sponsored by the Martha’s Vineyard Social Justice Leadership Foundation and the Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center Social Action Committee.
Admission is free. The program will be presented in both English and Portuguese and will be live streamed.
Attorney Rotolo will discuss the ACLU of Massachusetts’ pro-active Freedom Agenda in the legislature, as well as provide a basic Know Your Rights training for participants. Attorney Moraes will focus on Know Your Rights material. State Rep. Fernandes will talk about the proposed Safe Communities Act.

Gabriella Bonfim Moraes
Gabriella Bonfim Moraes has been assisting clients to achieve their personal and professional goals through proper immigration law procedures for almost a decade. Her practice involves the preparation of family and work visas, as well as green card and waiver applications.
She has worked as an associate attorney at a Boston law firm, where her experience included drafting business contracts, writing appeals to federal agencies to challenge immigration rulings, and working on business transactions relating to the mining industries in Asia. Attorney Gabriella also has international experience. She represented clients over public concessions and infrastructure projects, and provided counseling in all areas of legislative and electoral law. Also, attorney Gabriella has interned in the State House of Representatives in Brazil and in the Consulate of Argentina.
Laura Rótolo
Laura Rótolo is staff counsel and community advocate at the ACLU of Massachusetts where she focuses on issues relating to immigrants. She joined the ACLU of Massachusetts in 2007, first as a human rights fellow studying immigration detention conditions. Currently, Laura works to create policies that safeguard fundamental rights, as well as challenge policies that do not. As a Latina and an immigrant from Argentina, she advocates within Latino immigrant communities in Massachusetts. Laura is a graduate of Tufts University, the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, and American University’s Washington College of Law.

Dylan A. Fernandes
Dylan A. Fernandes is a Democratic member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives, representing the Barnstable, Dukes & Nantucket District. He was first elected to the chamber in 2016.
